Who's Who at Streetlights
Dorothy Thompson
Executive Director
Dorothy has 22 years of experience connected with the entertainment industry, which includes 4 years with a large Advertising Agency and many years producing both independent documentaries and TV commercials for major advertising clients--supervising projects in excess of one million dollars. Since 1992 she has led the Streetlights charge to remain the most innovative diversity workforce facilitators in the Entertainment Industry.

Adele B. Wilson
Managing Director
Adele came to Streetlights with many years of Entertainment Industry and non-profit experience under her belt. Prior to Streetlights, Adele promoted social justice issues through social marketing campaigns, including “Unequal Justice” focusing on wrongful convictions, and a campaign targeting Spanish Language entertainment executives in Mexico City promoting awareness of human trafficking through telenovelas. Adele’s experience in the Entertainment Industry includes having worked at Rhino Records, appearing on TV (The Rookie, Cheers, China Beach), in Commercials (Oreos, Cheerios, Hardee’s), and producing independent film (They Shoot Movies, Don’t They?).

Lisa Insana
Outreach Director
During Lisa’s first career in the field of education, the foundation was laid for a desire to work serving others. She then sought to use her passion for the field of entertainment to serve an even bigger audience – through the lens of a camera. In making the career change to TV production, Lisa has worked as producer on a wide range of formats, from documentary and magazine formats to lifestyle and reality/follow documentary formats for such networks as CBS, Discovery, History Channel, TLC, WEtv and Lifetime. While Lisa has had many profound TV experiences as a producer, she credits two shows that profiled the underserved as the inspiration to work in the nonprofit world: the annual CBS/Children’s Action Network/Dave Thomas Foundation special, A Home for the Holidays, a show that promotes adoption through the foster care system, and WEtv’s, My Fair Wedding, in which celebrity event planner, David Tutera, gave truly deserving couples the weddings of their dreams. By joining the Streetlights’ team as Outreach Director, Lisa is thrilled to be fulfilling a dream of her own.

Who Funds Us
Streetlights has received generous funding throughout our 25-year history. Major Advertisers and Ad Agencies have contributed through the Commercial Diversity Initiative (CDI). We have received grants from Foundations, Banks, Financial Institutions, and the City of Los Angeles.
Donations help Streetlights graduates stay job ready, and can make a difference between success and failure by providing necessities such as glasses, clothing, groceries, childcare, etc., without which many could NOT finish training or secure a JOB!
